Default Stock camshaft spec or replacement

Does anyone have any specs for stock 4.6 camshaft, or at least would know what should i see on my caliper when i measure the lobes.

If i need to replace it, any recommendations on what should i buy (previously i bought cheap shafts from either AB or L8 and i went through 3 of these before finally scoring one that broke in properly instead of wiping out). I'm looking for a plain stock cam profile and really don't want to spend a 1000 bucks on this.

Hey - unfortunately I can't answer your question, but I came across this post while digging into my emissions issues (separate thread). The previous owner of my 1999 D1 swapped in a 4.6L with a crower performance cam, and I'm considering swapping back in a stock cam to see if that brings down my NOx levels. Can you comment more on your experience with the AB / L8 cams? It's $115-$150 for an aftermarket ERR5250 from those guys vs. $700 for a genuine one. Seems some have had positive experiences with the L8 one (example) but I'm struggling with whether or not to roll the dice on the cheaper option... How many miles did you get out of yours? Did they run rough to begin with or were they fine and just failed prematurely?

I bought the first one from AB and the other two from L8. The first two wiped out on break-in. I used a quality break-in oil and dumped a whole bottle of zinc additive on top of that, primed the oiling system via oil pressure check port and followed the break in procedure. Third one seems to have broken in fine. In general my car fixing skills are limited to working on a couple of cars, so if there are some niuances on how to go about break in procedure i might have not known about those.

So far I've put 40k miles on the third one. I have a massive knock in the block that i need to address sometime soon, so i will check if any of the lifters are coming up low.

I'm mostly trying to avoid the massive hassle that is taking the camshaft out with the engine in the car, in case the possibly worn cam i have is causing some valvetrain issues.
