Strange tapping from upper engine
Hey guys,
Did an oil change today after I got done filling it back up, I cranked the engine. I've got some very strange tapping sounds from the upper engine. It also seems like it's more on the drivers side than the passenger side. It also does increase with RPMs. It's been happening on and off for about a month, but we don't drive it all the frequently so I haven't really worried about. But I would like to get your advice on what you think it is...

I didn't think that the frequency of the tapping was consistent to the engine RPM. If that is true, it should rule out internal engine parts. I was looking at someone's D2 that had an aftermarket purge valve that made the same kind of tapping as yours at lower RPMs. Can you feel any of the tapping by placing your hands on various parts? I could feel the tapping through the body of this guy's purge valve.

I agree w/ Lord. Check to make sure the combo valve isn't leaking exhauat gases. It could be loose or the gasket could've blown out.
There is also a small black valve w/ an electrical connector located behind the combo valve (moving towards the firewall) that could also be the culprit (in the last few seconds of your video you zoomed in on its location. It sits just under the grayish white connector).
I know mine gives off a slight ticking/pulsing soun; not sure what it's called though.
My noise is not as pronounced as yours.
