Default strong exhaust smell

I have a very strong exhaust smell and wondered what it could be. I swapped a motor out that was leaking coolant through. I have had to replace all the o2 sensors since but have not replaced the 2 downstream yet. Are my cats fried?

How many miles on the donor engine, do you have any fault codes, did you install new wires and plugs in it and what octane gas are you burning.

Whats up Mike? I was told 88k on the newer motor. The only codes I get are the 2 downstream o2's. I have new wires and plugs and use 93.

I will get out there and get them again. It was a couple for each o2 sensor.

Are you leaking any oil? I had an exhaust smell and it was my front crank seal leaking and blowing back oil onto my headers and exhaust pipes and I had the same smell. I used blue devil recently and will post my results.

If you have 02 issues your exhaust will smell so replace them.

So if the downstream o2 sensors are bad ill get a strong smell from the exhaust? How does that work? I plan on swapping both out but have to wait for that extra cash right now.

If you would have given us the fault code numbers it would have helped but if the 02's are bad you will either run too rich or leaning, hence the smell.
