Default TDC? and lots of work

Ok... have decided to do some work to this '94 Disco. w/ 3.9
I would like to post some pictures of the progress and jobs if I may?

Also will post a picture when I have a question.

This site is like an online Land Rover consultancy!

What started out as a new water pump has turned into:
New water pump
Re-cored radiator
New hoses
New main cover gasket
New intake mani gasket
New valve cover gaskets
Trans filrter and fluid change
All other liquids
Even a new clock bulb!

Need to remove the flywheel to get at the main cover.
Will try to put a socket into a hard pipe wedged against the concreet floor or frame, and flip the motor for a second.

Now this may seem stupid... but prior to removing the flywheel the RAVE says to place the motor so that number 8 is at TDC. I am used to seeing several marks on a fly wheel. The rover just has a slot which I assume will be TDC.

This is in the picture below... when the timing mark is aligned with the center of the slot... on a rover is that TDC? If so, is each edge of the slot plus or minus 5 degrees?, 1 degree???

Thanks

Joe

Default RE: TDC? and lots of work

I would assume that is TDC, but usually, it is #1, not #8. Hopefully someone with a 94/95 has pulled their own on here.
