Default Thinking on Buying one.

Hello guys
I am new to the forum

i've been thinking on buying a Land Rover discovery 2000 for a long time, but i've read bad things about it. I just want to hear opinions of real Disco Owners.

First of all i am planning to use this vehicle as a daily driver, but also twice a year i will be taking it to Baja, i tow a small boat and i do alot of off-road over there. it would be hard to find parts for LR in Baja that is one of my concerns, also how is it on Gas, i currently have a 1989 Isuzu trooper that gives me about 14 mpg.

What do you guys think? would you recommend this verhicle for me or should i stay away, maybe not as an only car.

Thanks for your opinion Guys

You come to a Land Rover enthusiasts forum and ask if you should buy one or not?
Thats like going up to a pimp and asking if you should rent a ho or not.
Ok, seriously, yes.
A Disco will suit you perfectly.
Read though that link that I included and then decide which Disco is right for you.
You can expect 15 mpg as a daily driver.

Any questions we are here to answer them.

I think a disco would suit your needs really well also. I imagine its difficult to find lots of parts from any vehicle in baja. Take spares for parts that commonly break off-road...axle shafts, maybe a brake sensor, etc..oh yeah If was going off-roading in baja I'd buy the tool to check and reset ABS codes.

Sounds like the right truck for you. Disco's are amazing off road and they can be reliable if you take the right steps to take care of them. I trust mine to get me out there and back, on road or off road. Test out a few and have a mechanic look over any you come close to buying.

If you end up purchasing one, you've come to the right place for helpful information. This forum has saved me quite a bit of money, and taught me almost everything I know about Land Rovers. Good Luck and keep us posted on what you're looking at!

get a 99 D1 or a 04 D2 instead. Also make sure you test drive a bunch before you jump in with this one. also check out this thread https://landroverforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=21328
