While helping a stalled ford explorer through a flooded intersection i cracked my front bumper cover. I may wait til it gets completely destroyed off road but until then I was thinking about this simple bumper. I like the way it looks and I think it will match my Greg Davis bumper well.

What do you think? Anyone ever see it up close?

I think its your tires that make it not look good on your truck.

Yeah thats exactly why it doesnt look so good. When it IS on MY truck it should look better and maybe more like the green Disco...

I'd try it out - looks good and about 40% less than the ARB unit. You should be able to pick up a Warn M8000 for $600 including shipping.

 

I like it, and have always doubted that brush guards are useful.

I mean has a brush guard actually ever saved someone from damage? Even driving through brush, the side of the truck will get all scratched to sh@@, so what's the point?

 

I somewhat agree. I have never had brush guards but I bet they help in some situations just as much as make things worse. I simply don't like them much because they get in the way during under hood maintenance and in some applications you would need to remove the entire bumper if you had to remove the headlights...

 

Nice bumper for the price. I am debating between a brush guard or bumper. I like the "civilian look" of my bumper now. The off road ones kind of make it look like you are hard-core off roading. I just smashed the bottom of mine when going fishing by the Rogue river--so a brush guard would probably take that abuse better (or tear off sooner). Certainly you get a better approach angle with a steel bumper losing all the fog-lights and bumper valence stuff. (But I like that stuff too!)

 

well to me it looks like the 03-04 bumpers have much better approach angles than older DII's.

If they made an exact replica of the stock 03-04 bumper with just a slightly shorter lower valance than I would buy it. I like that stock look.

I think this AB bumper is the next best MOST stock looking bumper.
