Default Tick noise

I recently had a p1171 error, so I had oil change, new o2 sensors , and cat converters installed. I now have the tick noise at start up and it goes when I start driving, but when I come to a stop and it idling I hear the tick noise. I have been reading the forum so I do not get robbed by dealership. The tick noise sounds like from driver side of vehicle. I do not have any error codes. I had all new plugs n wires installed. What will this money pit need to have done, I have a 2004 disco se only 83000 miles. Any direction or help in what it could be. I just cannot believe I do these repairs and now I have tick noise, I did not have before. Thanks

You mentioned you had an oil change before the tick appeared.... did you use the same type of oil? i.e, organic or syn? grade?

I switched one time to synthetic and a tick appeared. Switched to Rotella 15W40 organic and the tick went away.

The older style push-rod design of our (Buick) engines seem to prefer organic.

I had that same tick forever, changed to Rotella 15W40 and it's gone. I also ran a ZMax treatment in oil and fuel. The truck purrs now

Only when hot? YES - Loose sleeve.

Rotella here too. Took my tick away.

I had a bad tick on my engine and when I replaced my head gaskets I found one valve train had alot of baked on oil. One of the oil passages was clogged. I cleaned everything, slapped it all back together and still had a tick but much harder to hear. I switched to Rotella and it went away immediately.

The first few oil changed with Rotella it came out black at about 1000 miles. After that pretty clean at 3000 miles. Rotella works. I've been using it for two years.

I do live in the south though. Not real cold here.

Hopefully not a loose liner.

If it comes on asap from cold start in morning, then not a liner.

May just be bad lifter or lifter has dirt in it.
Probably change oil - a lot and try to let the oil detergent clear the dirt in the lifter.

I just got the oil changed, should I just top off with rotella 15w40 and as far as rocker shaft issue , what is part # or where can I get , I have a mechanic that is staying very busy with this car I am going to keep forever, since I am original owner and have done regular maintenance and all expensive repairs.

The detergent in the new oil needs time to work the dirt out of the lifter.

Does the noise happen right smack in the morning when you start it the first thing on the morning??

Or is it good when you first start it and then you drive it a few miles and THEN you FIRST hear the noise at idle?
