Default Time to change my mirror fluid

Being generally optimistic...my mirror is still half full..
Does any one know if a D2 mirror ( with temp readout) will fit in a D1, or are the mounts different ? I see that a lot of the used D2 mirrors for sale appear to have the wires "cut" , obviously for quick removal from the donor vehicle......so how involved is hooking up the temp probe to these cut wires.....is it just a wire ? or something different ? Also I see a lot of you have installed a new Gentex mirror...but had to change the mount ...what all is involved with that ?
Thanks in advance for all your comments

D2's won't work, to my knowledge, but don't quote me on that. Not sure about the temp readout either. I went through this a couple of years ago and finally came across one for a D1 for $20. Just swapped that one.

As far as I know the DI and DII use the same mirror mount which is a funky weird rectangle thingy thing.
The DII's temp sensor would also be needed, good luck with that.
The DII mirror is a Gentex brand mirror.
The DI mirror is a Magna Donnelly brand mirror.

As far as changing the mirror mount, any glass shop can glue on a GM style mirror mount for free if not cheap.

The mirror is pretty easy to install, I watched the guy install mine and it took a total of 30 min to mount it and wire the power, and we just used the factory harness. Cut the wires for power and ground, used the new mirrors wire connectors and done.
I ran the temp probe after I got home.
I need to move my temp probe, it is to close to the radiator and the temp on the mirror climbs when sitting in traffic.
I bought my mirror off of Craig's List for $100, it is a $350 mirror.
They installed it for me at the Gentex factory 20 miles from my house in their R&D department.

If you are worried about cutting the factory harness dont be, it is a piggy tail harness.
Meaning that the main harness runs under the headliner, then a connector plugs into it to run to the mirror and another connector runs over to the Homelink and sunroof switches.
So you could always replace that piggy tail harness at a later date it you really wanted to.

I went to the salvage today to scavenge the last of the parts I could find. I was going to get the mirror for you, but someone beat me to it. Sorry, should have grabbed it the first time.

I did scavenge enough switches to get all of my lights working.

I just want to see her live on in other vehicles. I can hear her cry out every time I leave. Poor thing....I do have her Xfer case and tranny in my garage. It is going to go into my 96 I saved from the scrap heap. I hate seeing these things head to the yard..

I have a wallet.

(if it wasn't for the pics of my family and a couple of credit cards rung up to the max there'd be no reason to carry it around though !!)
