Default Tire Opinion

Well i was given a gift of new tires and the wrong tires were ordered and driven on so based on return policy of our local tire shop we can't return them but we can sell them back and receive credit. I was looking to get goodyear wranglers but ended up with goodyear eagle LS2 and I'm trying to turn a bad situation into a good one these tires are great on road IMO. i haven't found anyone saying anything about them off road. does anyone have any experience with these tires off road? I've used hankook ventus off road before and they didn't do to bad and that was in my friends grand cherokee.

My truck had goodyear eagle tires and they sucked in the snow, cannot imagine they will do you anything at all off road. They are street tires and nothing more.

Depends where you'll be. If your in mud you'll have no chance but to use momentum, anywhere else you should have some traction, and your traction control should be able to compensate a little for the less than aggressive tread pattern you have. You'll be able to go quite a few places on a stock disco with its traction control functioning properly.

My TC is fine and like i said i have used hankook ventus off road and they did well but your right about mud i lost momentum in a pit right as i was coming out and the back tires couldn't push the truck up and the front tires were hopeless

IMO it's best to ask a jeep owner about their tire choice, you'll find that they need to over compensate for their non-capable vehicle with good aggressive tires

Depending on the size, Goodyear Wrangler Authoritys from Walmart are at the top of my short list. Next would be Definity Dakota A/T2s from Pep Boys (just got a set of 235/85-16s with a "buy 3 get one free" promo). Didn't like how they looked on the lifted Disco, so I sold them and got a set of GY Wrangler Authoritys from WalMart in 245/75-16, MUCH happier! Here's a pic of each tire on my '93 Explorer Sport. The GY Wrangler Authority is on the left, which is a front tire, in 31x10.50-15. The right pic is the Pep Boys Definity Dakota A/T2, which is what I have on the back, in 31x11.50-15. I'll eventually replace the rears with the same size that I have on the front, but they'll do for now.
