Default Tire Pressure Question??

Does anyone know why Land Rover has you running 30PSI on the front tire and 46psi in the rear?

You would think you'd want more pressure in those front tires to support the heavier front load. I would also think that if you had more pressure you may have less wear. Ride quality may suffer so this could be the ticket.

Any thought, theory's or data on this???

Are you sure you're not looking at max load pressures?

This is off the sticker on the drivers side door. I believe this what the operators manual refers you to.

I'm looking the Owners Handbook and see that Normal Operating Conditions is 30psi front 38psi back. This makes a more sense.

Max Load is 30psi front and 46psi back. Makes sense as I'm guessing this refers to towing.

Thanks for directing down the right path.

These things are actually a little light in the front due to the aluminum engine. I ran the recommended air pressure in my P38 (which was the same) and got even tire wear front to rear. That might be something Rover got right.

My suggestion is to run 38 to 40 pounds in all 4 tires, doing this will allow the tire to wear better, give you better gas mileage and cause less wear on your drive train when wheeling alot and using the ETC.
