Torque Specs ?
So last night I was working on my Porsche getting ready for the Monterey Historic's I get a phone call from my dad say's the his land rover over heated and started smoking, I go pick him up pop the hood radiator hose was blown so I cut it and re attached it filled it with water and had him drive it 1 mile to his house it had some white smoke coming out of the exhaust.
So today I yanked the heads of and am going to order new head bolts and gasket's and a new thermo, tomorrow morning heads look pretty good I am gonna yank the valves and take them to get surfaced and pressure tested anything else I should get before I move foward ?
Also is the any place I can find torque patterns and specs''
Thanks
David

I think since I have it apart I am going to dispersant coat and port the heads and port and barrier coat the exhaust manifolds this should keep the underhood temps down a bit and add a few pony's.. Any body else try this ?
Also is there any way to check for a dropped sleeve ?

Those are all personal projects.. I have been doing engine stuff for about 12 years I am 27 now do anything from record setting drag cars to development work for Mazda Speed to Professional monster trucks ..
I dont use jet hot unless it is for bling factor I like to use turbo based coating for the hot side.

All that crap isn't from a Disco eh?
Nice looking parts even if I'm not into bling.
Dropped sleeve is hard to tell just by looking at it, you may see marks on the gasket and head where the sleeve has pounded the head if it is that loose. You will hear a metallic knock once the engine has heated up but no knock when it is cold, the knock will fade away at higher revs. That is what my engine did anyway, the #3 sleeve was so loose that it punched through the gasket and made a neat O imprint in the head. It seems to be #3 that goes most often. A block pressure test may show a leak or not, there have been posts about nothing showing on a normal test but the leaks showed up after the block was heated to 180F and near suicide PSI was used.

I didnt hear any knocking when it was warm a little ticking when it was cold until it warmed up I didnt see any marks on the head gaskets I didnt even really see any marks where water would get into the cylinder..
Where is the best place to get quality low price gasket kits and head bolts?

A slipped liner will let you know, it makes a noise. Some tick when cold is normal, they almost all have a tick. Coolant in the cylinder will clean the piston and cylinder head, they will look like they have been steam cleaned, you will also get a sweet coolant smell from the exhaust. Other symptoms of a coolant leak in the block will be rough idle on cold startup after standing overnight.
What oil are you using? These engines like Mobil 1 10W40 or Rotella 15W40 conventional and a good filter like the Mobil 1 301.
