I agree with the exception of the tow dolleys, most companies like U-Haul won't let you tow a Disco per the weight regulations stamped on their trailers.
That being said, I had a friend rent a dolly told them he was going to be towing a Honda, then loaded up his Disco a towed it from Colorado to Florida with no problems.

Towing my D2 Saturday from SoCal to SLC, Utah.
I'll be towing mine behind a 24' International bobtail. I went the full trailer route ($75 more than the dolly) so I wouldn't have to remove and reinstall the driveline. I had to say I was towing a Jeep Cherokee (i feel so dirty :P) to be able to reserve it. The online system wouldn't let me reserve it for a D2 because it went over the rating by 300-400 lbs. It'll be fine. They under-rate these things just to be safe.

Yes you are correct to do underrate most equipment. Do your self a favor and do a inspection on the trailer before taking off. Check tires for appropriate air pressure and dry rot and cracking. Be sure to remember extra stopping distance for your heavy load and have a safe trip! If you are moving to slc you will love it there very beautiful place to be. If you have da rover set up for some serious trails let me know i can direct you to a few. If not and you want to see something very cool but less of a challenge go to Tooele Ut and take the drive up to he top of kennecott copper mine and look down into the core very neat site to see! Also the Great Salt Lake has a pretty raunchy smell to it almost enough to make you GAGGGGG LOL again have a safe trip.
