Default Towing with Disco II

Hi. I've got an '04 Disco II SE7 with the dealer installed trailer wiring. I can't seem to find out what exactly is connected to what with this set-up. I want to tow a camping trailer with electric brakes. I need to know what the purpose is of each pin on the EURO style receptacle so that I can make an adapter for the American style 7-pin RV plug. Furthermore, how do I hook a brake controller up on this set-up? Does anyone have any experience with this stuff?
Thanks in advance!

The wiring package from Rover will not handle your brakes so I would suggest you go to a good trailor shop, show them what you have and what you want.
As for your current plug, they do make a convertor type plug that will allow you to run the old round plug also.

If you take off the passenger side rear tail light lense ( four phillips head screws ) you'll see the wiring harness. I just installed a aftermarket kit and the schematic is printed on the face so your factory installed harness may be the same. Otherwise your going to have to use a test light to check what pin is what.

First do you have the pig tail euro to flat four. If so easy fix go to U-haul and buy there brake controler and flat 4 to rv style adaptor. It is not plug and play but it should work as you pull power from the battery and link into the brake wire to give the brake controler the signal then run a wire from the controler to to your new and shiny adaptor and your in like flin. hope it works out for you as I am doing the same thing on my d2
