Hi, am new to the forums! I have a 01' Disco and I want to tow my Porsche down to sacramento from Seattle. The book says 4400lbs in high gear, the actual weight might be around 5100lbs, how much can I actually safely tow. Thanks

 

are you pulling it on a trailer or tow bar or what?

also, what porsche weighs 5K??

 

The trailer is from uhaul and weighs 2100, and the 911 weighs 2400. So i guess the total weight would be about 4500. There is quite a few passes in the southern part of oregon and northern part of cali.

That's quite a heavy trailer. Don't they have anything less beefy? If the Porsche is mechanically sound, maybe a car dolly could save you quite a few hundred pounds. I just towed a 2375lb Jetta on a dolly, hardly felt it on flat roads. Inclines were not even close to being an issue.
