Default towing limits on a discovery

I own a '97 Disco and wondering if it's possible to pull a sailboat of 7000lbs and a trailer weight of 1,000lbs. I understand the disco's do have transmission coolers but still wondering if it's just too much weight. I wouldn't need to travel very fast either.

Regards,
Rob Frey

What do you guys think is the max towing of a disco 1 is on hills here in utah. I have a f350 powerstoke that I tow my 3 horse with now. It should weigh only around 5k with two horses in it. I know the manual says around 7k, but I assume that is on flat ground at see level? What do we really see? Is there a tranny cooler on these? I do see it has a class two hitch on it.

Rob-You are a bit high on the weight, and will want to keep an eye on the transmission and T fluid.

Wildhorses-I believe it is for flat ground. Same warning on transmission wear due to the hills. There is a transmission cooler. Look just above bumper and you should see a cylindrical cooler mounted in front of and along the bottom of the radiator.
