Default Towing with my Disco

I've been looking through the manual on my Disco's towing capacity, and I think I've got a pretty good understanding of what it's capable of. I noticed that it has an accessory lighting socket behind the right rear tail light cluster.

Is there a trailer brake set up built in on these guys? If not, is this something I should have installed by a dealer?

no trailer brake setup, you need a brake control, i would go to rv dealer. cheaper and they do it way more often. I did it myself and it was pretty easy, except i amd pretty good with wiring.

How accurate are the towing capacities listed in the owner'd manual?

I'm moving about 700 miles in a few weeks, and if I can find a trailer to handle it, I'd like to tow my '74 Ford LTD rather than pay for gas in both of these guzzlers. The car weighs in at around 4400 lbs.

if you have not already found out. Getting to the connector is a pain. I agree with mike on where to get it done. If you have someone else do it for you, ask if they can put a sealed extension for the outside. It will stop future pains when towing. same reasons. hope it help
