Tranny Line blew off

Hi all, 2000 disco 11 slowed to a sudden stop the other night. Thought I was out of gas, as I was getting ready to pull over and get some, but when I coasted to the curve I still had a revving engine. It was snowing and dark so I had to leave it pushed off into a field on the side of the road ( got lucky there).
The next morning revealed tranny fluid everywhere so I was Bumming until I found one of the lines had "slipped" off the passenger side cooler in/out (?) fitting next to the radiator hose. Re-clamped , filled and off I went. My question is " how much pressure is in the system when running" ? Just curious if it was just a bad clamp job to begin with or I had put too much fluid in on last drain and refill ?
Had done the drain, Lucas and fill routine as I'm going through this formally used and abused ride.
Thanks!

There are no clamps but connectors that snap onto the tranny cooler. Better go and inspect the connector.

yea it had two standard hose clamps , one next to the other.
The idiot who owned this before had done all sorts of hack work.
What "snap" connectors are the right ones?
Thanks

To late to worry about that now, they came as part of the cooler lines.
Make sure you use two wide and extra HD clamps and hope they hold or you will need to buy new lines.

ok sounds good! so I imagine there is sufficient pressure , when running , to worry about a crappy clamp job then?

100 psi at idle, 150 at speed. How long of a blood trail did you leave?

parkerlander Feb 16, 2013 03:11 PM

oh prob 40 yards but just guessing approx.....it came to a rather abrupt stop and I was only going around 35 ish if that. I was on a side road and just pulling away from a light.

How's the other line look?

Yeah, get those new tranny lines in there.
or you get stranded.
Make sure to top up the transmission when it is running.

ok! will be inspecting all the lines now and be replacing as I go.......This is the rover I posted on that had the duct tape shoved in holes in the instrument cluster to hide the 3 amigos. It's amazing the crap I have found mickey moused on this ride. Glad I only paid $2500 a year ago. It actually runs great but I keep fining all this weird **** done to it and have been able to fix a lot of it for cheap using this great site!!!
