Default Transfer case stopped leaking mostly

How can this happen?

My transfer case stopped leaking.
I thought it was empty.

Opened it up at lunch - low and behold there is 90 wt in there.

Not complaining now.

black off the bottom bolts of the transfer case.

But clear light brown 90 Wt in the case..

Ah, your point well taken.

Do you think the black oil is from the engine or elsewhere?

prob from the back of the engine be my guess. the brits cannot make a metal gasket that does not leak. its a known scientific fact lol

What's it smell like? I'm guessing tranny output seal or something. Fill your tranny while running until a small bead runs out, then report back. I thought my T-case was leaking at first, but ended up being a transmission leak from the rear output seal.

Thanks for that.
Up in Seattle, it dripped a huge amount on the ground - marking its spot.

Here on the cardboard in the garage a few drips after a few days.
A lot less.

I mean it used to drip so bad that there were drops coming up the driveway.

I figured it all had finally leaked out.
And I would need a new transfer case soon.

Did not smell it yet.
Have a huge killer cold I am getting over.

Have you noticed any changes in shifting? Maybe the vehicle holding a gear longer than expected, or not going into the next gear until a little later?

If you are still in the Seattle area we can come do a diagnostic for you!
Hope your killer cold has blown over.

Down in San Diego now.
Cold is gone.
Thanks for the offer.
The rover is still not leaking much from that transfer case.

I did not know Seattle had so much rover stuff going on there.
And I lived in Kirkland nearly three years.
Kirkland was pretty much self contained.
The Lake Washington was so nice, you did not want to leave the area.
