Well the trans temp light will come on if the trans overheats. Check the fluid level first. Then check the connections at te trans, make sure they are clean and tight. Other than that you either have a clogged transcooler or a bad temp sending unit.
As for the other-is it your check engine light or the service engine soon light? There is a difference.

Ok, the service engine soon usually means emissions service. O2 sensors, catallitic convertors, etc.
You need to find out what that code means. I cannot find the meaning to it anywhere.

For me, are trans oil tempand emission are 2 totally different things? I donno....

Anyway, I google it and P1884 can be...
1) CAN message WFPDK (DKI) invalid (FFh) or
2) ENGINE COOLANT LEVEL LAMP CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND

Yes the trans and emissions are two different things. Worry about the trans first.
Did you check the fluid level yet? With the engine running and the parking brake set run the gear shifter through all the gears. "R" "N" "D" "3" "2" "1", counting to 5 in each gear, then gop back to park in the same manner.
Crawl under the trk (leave the engine running) and remove the fill/check plug on the side of the transmission, the fluid should drip out of the trans. If not then you are low. Top it off with Dexron III.

the trans temp light is usually caused by a bad temp sensor, its in your trans cooler infront of the radiator, it can also be caused by the t-box temp sonsor or a wiring short. the 1884 code is a can code for a missing signal from your trans to your ecm, this is usually thrown when your trans goes into limp home mode, stuck in 3rd gear. you need to check codes in your trans, some scan tools wont pull them, you probaly have have a trans problem, low fluid, bad tcc solenoid, bad torque conv.
