Yes the trans and emissions are two different things. Worry about the trans first.
Did you check the fluid level yet? With the engine running and the parking brake set run the gear shifter through all the gears. "R" "N" "D" "3" "2" "1", counting to 5 in each gear, then gop back to park in the same manner.
Crawl under the trk (leave the engine running) and remove the fill/check plug on the side of the transmission, the fluid should drip out of the trans. If not then you are low. Top it off with Dexron III.
I tried. fluid is dripping out. That means the fluid level is fine, right?

the trans temp light is usually caused by a bad temp sensor, its in your trans cooler infront of the radiator, it can also be caused by the t-box temp sonsor or a wiring short. the 1884 code is a can code for a missing signal from your trans to your ecm, this is usually thrown when your trans goes into limp home mode, stuck in 3rd gear. you need to check codes in your trans, some scan tools wont pull them, you probaly have have a trans problem, low fluid, bad tcc solenoid, bad torque conv.
There's no other codes other than P1884. Also when I am driving at 60km/h, the rev is 1.5; if driving at 110km/h, the rev is 2.5. Does this mean the trans is fine?

If the fluid is dripping out then yes the fluid level is fine. Next I would look for a loose connection or a bad temp sensor.

Spike555, how can I find out whether the transmission temp sensor is good or bad if there is no other code from the ECU? Thanks.

Sensors are a replace only item. I looked at www.atlanticbritish.com and only found one for the transfercase.

You need to just replace the trans temp sensor.

Call your dealer and see if the trans and t-case take/use the same sensor. Also check their price.

No, that is for the engine. You need the one for the transmission.

the trans temp sensor and tbox temp sensor use the same light, same wiring even, connected at a splice... as to the trans sensor, you will probably need a whole new cooler, ive replaced several and only one didnt rip the threads out of the cooler when removing the sensor, and just to warn you, the cooler lines are a pain... this said, you need to check the resistance of your sensors, and ensure that the wiring is not shorted to ground, if youre not good with electrical then get it looked at
