Default Transmission Temperature Light D1

My transmission temperature came on and remains on even when engine and tranny are cold. I searched the archives and only found description of two wires on drivers side transfer case. I found a black plug with a rubber boot over it. I removed the plug and cleaned the connectors and plug and checked continuity of the sensor and there weas none. Is this the temperature sensor and if it needs replacing how much fluid will come out when it is removed?

I have RAVE and could not find anything about the sensor...

All of the replies vanished with the new forum look. I searched all through RAVE and found no mention of the temp sensors. Someone had posted to check the sensor behind the radiator. I pulled the boot off of the connector and it was full of water. I cleaned with electrical connector cleaner and the light is off now. The sensor is on the line coming out of the lower drivers side of the radiator. Another win for the forum.
