Tune-Up
I took the my 2000 Disco to a shop for a review. The mechanic pointed out a few things:
-Oil leaking from valve cover gaskets
-oil Pan gaskets
He said this was not a concern
I also then took it to the jiffy lube, where they gave it a oil change, flushed the coolant and gave it a engine flush.
Are the two items mentioned above normal?

RE: Tune-Up
Although leaks are common on Rovers you should try to get them taken care of. What kind of oil are you using? What weight? How did they do the engine flush? When was the last time the PCV system was checked/replaced?
My 2000 Disco was leaking from the valve cover gaskets. I changed the PCV valve and ran Valvoline Maxlife until it stopped leaking (only a few 100 miles). Now I switched to Mobil 1 0w30 and there are still no leaks!
Cheers,
Pete

RE: Tune-Up
First, don't go to a lube shop and use their oil filters, they are bad for the engines because they can cause dry starts when left sitting over night.
Tighten you valve cover , then go power wash all the dirt and oil from the engine, see what is still leaking a few days later.
You mentioned a tune up, are you doing one or going to do one, amke sure to replace the plug wires if yours are old, use new 8mm Magnacor wires for the best results.

RE: Tune-Up
Positive Crankcase Ventlation.
It will go from your valve cover to the intake plenum, passenger side. Rubber hose comes out of the valve cover, remove that hose and inside the valve cover is a little plastic thingy (called the oil seperator), pull it out with needlenose pliers, clean it will carb cleaner, re-intall.
Next take that rubber hose and spray the carb cleaner into the hose, use alot of carb cleaner. The whole can if you want.
Replace the hose, start the truck and drive it for a few miles.
As for the engine flush, they used a engine flush in a can, dont worry about it, its all good.

Thanks Mike. Yeah, the one mechanic did point out that the spark wires looked old and should be replaced. Why, do you mention to have them replaced? Any reason specifically?
Any other things, I should have checked, since this I bought this car used and don't know the past history of what was done and wasn't?
