Needless to say.......expensive (Mobil 1).

I don't think I can switch back to regular.....can I????? Usually once you go synthetic, there is no switching back.

Any recommendations?????
Holy crap Batman!!!
A oil change costs me roughly $26 every $5000.
Yes you can switch to non synthetic, that is a old myth.
As for recommendations, Shell Rotella, 15w-40, Wal-Mart gal jug, $12.50, you need 2, save the extra for next time or top off's between oil changes.
Go to NAPA and buy 2 Gold Oil filters while they are on sale, about $6 for one filter, but they are buy one get one right now.
If you live where it gets really cold in the winter then use Shell Rotella 5w-40, also at Wal-Mart but it is $20 a gal.
Whichever oil you use change it every 5,000 miles and grease your driveshafts at every oil change too.

As for the Mobil 1, you have been overpaying, your truck takes 6 qts, it sells for what? $7 per quart plus another $5-6 for a oil filter, you have been getting raped.
No need to spend that much money on a oil change, no need to spend $15 on a oil filter when the $6 filter is just as good.

EDIT:My mistake, I did not see that you live in Canada, sorry. Things are more expensive there. Use a diesel oil, 5w-40 for where you live with winter coming. Use a name brand oil filter, dont go top of the line, dont go bottom of the line, use the middle of the road one.

I switched form Mobil1 to Rotella 15w-40 and all has been good for two oil changes.
The cost of oil changes has almost been cut by 1/3rd. Its great oil, look at any John Deer, Cat repair shop. They all have Rotella around. I believe they would use good oil on $100,000 tractors and road building equipment. I've always been a fan of Shell fuel and now their oil.

You don't need to change synthetic oil every 3K...When Mobile ONE first came out they touted as a 50K oil, then they went to 25K...profitability has a great deal to do with our CORPORATE world!!! You should still change the fulter at 3-4K Synthetic can go 10K without a hitch. And it'll cut your oil bill by 2/3...Oh, the "K"s I'm referrring to are MILES...old dogs, u know...

Yes you can switch back. I ran Mobil 1 for 3 years. This past summer I switched to Rotella 15w-40, with no ill effects and better oil pressure. Buy it by the 2 gallon jug at Wal-Mart usually on the end cap, its the best deal. I still use K&N filters but thats just cause I got 5 on eBay for $10 each. And I also use the Filter-Mag.

I have been using the Bosch Distance plus filters. Seemed to get good reviews on BITOG.

Valvoline back to the original heading I was on the road this week so i stopped at a Valvoline quick change and them put they 10-40 in my truck (yah lazy and tired), worst oil in the world it 15 minute my truck sounded like the was a bag of bolts rolling around in the oil pan. I even tried add some lucus too it still sound terrible dumped it after one day.

Was it a intermittent tick?and only at idle? I have been using 10/30 castrol maybe I need to switch also.
