Default Verify Heated windsheild?

OK, so I picked up an 04 Disco earlier this year with a slipped lined engine, and am about to finally fire her up after a full rebuild.

So it has the cold weather package on it, which is suuuuuper as I live in Alaska. BUT, how can I verify it actually still has the heated windshield? Is it actually a particular heated glass or is there a heated duct that heats it?

I just want to make sure over the years, if it is a special glass unit, that some autoglass replace didn't swap it out for something different.

I have the same package, you should see the wires running through the glass.

Looks like I'll need to pop the cowl and check for the connections.

I have the switches, I just want to make sure some Joe at SafetyGlass didn't replace it with just a regular WS sometime in the past.

It's an Alaskan car, so I'm sure the prior owner would have known if it had gone missing. I hope. If I have to buy a replacement, that'll ____.

You will have have to re-program the BCU to turn on the heated windshield option. Any LR shop can do it in 5 minutes. Or you can try and find a buddy with a Nanocom or Hawkeye unit.

Only reprogram if it has never had a heated windscreen.

It should come right back if you reinstall heated glass.

There are decent aftermarket ones available.

I've seen guys go cheap and replace with non heated glass.

Ok, Gotcha! I am having my heated glass replace AGAIN, and was wondering if I needed to have something re-programmed!

Thanx!

I'll pop off the cowl and verify tonight.

If it doesn't still have the actual heated glass, I wont have to wait too long for a cracked windshield here in Alaska. I'll get it swapped out for the real thing the next time I have to have the insurance pop in a new one.
