VSS Wire to tap for Nav System
Going to put a new Navigation system in this weekend and the only wire I have not located is the VSS wire. Anyone know where I can get to one easily? Prefer in the dash somewhere. Did they offer a OEM Navigation option? If so, they must have tapped into VSS somewhere.
The VSS signal you need comes from the main harness that runs to the instrument pack. There is one at the SLABS ECU to, but this is the wrong format for"most" aftermarket units
The wire you need to splice into is in the main fuse box area. Undo the quick release panel below the steering column. In there you will find a large GREEN connector which is dis-connected by a "built in" plastic lever on it.
You may not have to disconnect it if you can access the wire enough. You need to connect to the PINK / GREEN wire in that main loom and run the wire up to the VSS pin on the headunit.

i have a question i am planing on putting an aftermarket radio which is a flip up tv with navigation is there any wires i need to tap into besides the radio harness to make the navigation work?
I have done about half a dozen in dash nav system installs and they all required taps into the parking brake, illumination, reverse and vss. They are almost never in the radio harness. VSS will only be in radio harness if you have a factory radio that controls the volume based on the speed of the vehicle. Illumination is present sometimes, but rarely.
Where did you put the GPS antenna? I put mine in the dash behind the head unit, but I don't get a signal. I have put them in similar places before and had no signal strength problems.

The chance of this getting replied to after this long probably is not great... I see no such green connector nor a lever. Any suggestions?
