Default Water Pump

I have to change out the water pump on my Discovery ll. Does anyone have any info on which the best one is? I usually order off of Rove parts. AB. But wasn’t sure if there was other options just as good.?

i dont think you can go wrong with rover parts, rock auto has choices and cheaper, it seems they are a hit and miss these days, quite a few members report them going bad after 6-12 months

Roverparts is great. I also Shop from Lucky 8 and have had only good experiences with them. RockAuto can be hit or miss. For myself, I like driving vs fixing parts that fail prematurely. Therefore I don't shop at RockAuto 99% of the time.

Rock auto has many name brand parts.

it’s a hit and miss with all pumps. No matter where you buy

I'm guessing with re-boxing most parts in the water pump category are all going to be made at the same factories or between a few. Really a roll of the dice if you get a good one. I ordered a Beck/Arney hose kit and the parts were branded Uro in the box. RockAuto said that its common and the higher price/brand only gets you a better warranty.

I ordered the Airtex from RockAuto and it was genuine made in Spain. Good quality.

For several years on this and other Rover forums the go-to water pump was Airtex. A year and a half ago I installed an Airtex AW9369 that I bought off Amazon for about $72.

Some claim that Airtex pumps aren't what they used to be, plus there are at least a couple Airtex part numbers that fit the Rover V8 and I recall it wasn't easy to find out the differences between them.
