This 4.0 needs at least headgaskets/valvejob and lifters and a set of 4 o2's before I could even think of twin turbos.

please forgive my ignorance.

I thought if your in cdl. All 4 would spin at all times. I thought the awd, traction control was always going otherwise.

depending on traction;
no cdl could allow only 1 tire to spin (a front or a back)
cdl could allow only 1 tire on each axle to spin (a front and a rear)
cdl with diff lockers is the only way to assure that all 4 are spinning.

I was stationed at NWS Earle back in the early 90's. Used to take the Wrangler to the mud holes around there, looks a lot like that. Got stuck in a similar hole, maybe 3 or 4 feet deep, needed a backhoe to get us out. Good times...

That's very commonly misunderstood, most trucks when put in 4 lo don't even lock the transfer case 100%, they use a viscous coupling (like the p38 range rover).

To add what to dusty said: with the CDL locked and the traction control working, you can still semi control the open differentials in the front and rear when there is wheel spin. The traction control applies braking to the wheel that's spinning in an effort to transfer power to the wheel with traction, that's why when his traction control crapped out he could no longer control the open differentials and he got stuck. When you have true four wheel drive, you still get stuck, you just get stuck way farther out of the way

Hi, I noticed your back bumper with the body lift. Just letting you know that you can pull the plastic bumper off the back and drill new holes that almost bring it right up looking stock. I did it for a year before I built my steel back bumper. It was easy. Measure the holes and drilled approx 1" lower...maybe a bit more then mounted it back on. All I had to do with throw a wedge between the bumper and the tow hitch.
Or maybe thats not a concern, anyway, just letting you know. Have fun with it.

Oh and take off your spare, it is useless now.
