Default Wet or dry?

I just have a quick question. When the timing cover gasket and oil pan gasket go back on are they wet or dry? The workshop manual says dry but when I took it off there was traces of sealant on the mating surface. Also does anyone remember which ones are the long bolts in the timing cover? I screwed up and forgot to make note of it.Thanks

I would put a thin film of sealant on the gasket.

Then I will too. Thanks Mike. Do you have any recommendations as to type of sealant?
