Default What is this?

Anyone know what this is? Looks like some kind of bearing I've found two while doing my head gaskets. One in the head where the valve springs are and one on the table where my removed parts are laying. Can't find anywhere it would fit and they were loose. Did they fall from something or could this be left behind junk from someone else's shotty work?

I am sure you can discard that. I think that belongs to the head cover. The replacement comes with those spacers.

Looks like one of the 8 spacers in the valve cover gasket.

Yep, they are spacers to reduce the risk that the valve cover gaskets will get over-torqued and deform causing them to leak more. Although it's hard to imagine they would leak more!

It's a finger.

Lol, anyway, did you find any of those that were clean? Meaning one of your new gaskets might have lost one.

I put some rtv on each one of mine so there was no chance of a leak. Those spacers...still don't trust them.
