It seems to be well-regarded generally. It does say on their site not to use it on lifted trucks, but mine is not.

Mine was lifted when it failed but that wasn't the plan for the truck when I bought the shaft. It failed less than 2k (shaft had less than 5k miles on it in total) miles after being lifted on a cross country trip from CO to VA somewhere in KY. removed it before it grenaded and locked the CDL and we kept on trucking.

For the money I think a local option or the A1 option on ebay is a better option, it's mentioned in the other driveshaft thread that is going on right now.

The first time that I replaced the front prop shaft on a disco, I replaced all of the joints and centering ball myself, I will not do that again! I would highly recommend the BPU shaft as not only are the u-joints greasable, the centering ball on the hookes joint has a grease fitting as well. You won't need to needle-grease the ball thru the seal or dissassemble to lube the centering ball. Down side is that it is pricey.

Thanks for the info.

What I’m wondering is to what extent the a hyper-greased, heavy duty drive shaft is needed vs just a serviceable one like Lucky8.

Like is it going from 95% to 99% for 2x the price?

Pay attention. I said ALMOST universally. And that the term was used that way only in the UK.

True... Mollusc, but then then Discovery was made in the UK so the correct term applies........... does it not, bit like a boot and a trunk,

Tomayto … tomahto… Pip Pip old chap...
I always get grief from the Brits when I mention rocker cover then I get corrected that it is a valve cover.
Or when I mention cigarette lighter in the Land Rover but the Brits call it a cigar lighter.

Exactly. Different term for the same part. So you can use either one. It's not helpful to say "it's NOT a driveshaft."
I'm from New Zealand. We use the two terms in the complete opposite way: prop shafts or half-shafts run from the diff to the wheels, and a driveshaft runs lengthwise along the vehicle. However, since the OP is in the US and is looking to buy a part, it seems best to use the term that he's going to have the most luck with when he uses it in context.

As for rocker/valve cover.... what if you're talking about a OHC engine and there are no rockers?
