Default What tire size to run on 18"?

We got 5 Mondial 18" wheels to use on our new D2. We have a 2" Terra lift and currently running 255/65R16.
What size is everyone running? It will be used for weekend traveling, camping and light off-roading. Thanks!

I like the wider tires but some go fro the skinny's. Depends on what look you like. Narrower tires will allow you to keep more turning radius. I like the 265/65 or 275/65.

Narrower tires bite through mud to the solid surface below which gives you better traction. Same with on snow. A wider tire may cause tramming on rutted road surfaces, but will offer better load distribution.

I like skinny tires, tucked away inside my wheel wells so I don't throw rocks

Mine work out to about 33 x 11.5, I think. They are TOO BIG. They make my truck SLOW, though to the contrary they make me drive FAST because at 80 mph my speedometer shows about 68 mph, getting me a TICKET. Notably, these tires required spacers to avoid rubbing.

However, 33s look good on 18s. I wouldn't go smaller than 32 on an 18.

Waiting patiently for them to wear out.

However, I will say that I CANNOT get stuck in mud with them. I've tried. There is no bottom to the mud (clay) where I live, so skinnies wouldn't fare better. I will also say that they are not that great with water in the road at highway speed; a combination of byzantine tread and width, I assume.

My next set will be skinny, East Texas quagmire be damned.

I run 265/65/18 on my stock disco so you could go bigger with that lift

255/70R18 is a pretty common size thanks to Jeep Sahara’s with 18inch wheels.

I personally run 275/65R18’s on my 99 with a 3inch lift.

I'd rather go a little taller and skinnier like you say. I don't really care to much about the Speedo, but I don't want a real noisy tire. I don't plan on doing much off-roading with it. I'll start checking prices and see what's out there. Thanks!

275/70 Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs on 3" lift. They would rub like hell on 2" lift, but you get the idea. They're only about 5/8" wider than the stock 255s, but measure a tad over 33". Can't hear them at any speed unless the windows are open
