Default What would happen if?

I ran my Disco on regular octane fuel?

Let me explain. I don't do it and never will but my wife thinks that it doesn't matter. She thinks this because she is driving around a 2008 Nissan Quest. Her manual doesn't specify premium fuel, the Disco's does.

Let the horror stories begin so I can put this argument to rest.

True...she is in her own mind...the problem is that lower octane gas burns at a higher temp than our aluminum engines can take...and your gas mileage will suffer...NOT RECOMMENDED.

Just show her the owners manual and show her the part where it says "reduced MPG, horse power and engine life"
When that doesn't work tell that it is your truck and you will do what you want.
And then when that does not work just say "ok honey" and put premium in it anyway, how the hell will she know?
The bank statement wont show what gas you used only how much you spent.

I've ran both to test as well. DON'T Bother with the cheap gas. Above and beyond cooking the engine you'll use twice as much gas with the cheap stuff. Around town driving were we live has so many lights you can literally watch the gas gauge go down with 87 octane. It's so bad my Wife will only use 91 octane in the Rover too.

Better yet, every time the truck has a gas related issue, she pays for it out of her money, or take the truck away from her and get her a bike.

The engine will also idle rough and you could throw a couple of warning lights and codes. I don't even use regular in my lawn equipment and generator anymore. Regular has also gotten worse than what it was before.

my ex fiance and i got into this topic once over my motorcycle that she would ride on occasion,,,

i basically said this exact thing "do you have a degree in engineering on internal combustion engines #1. and #2 are you gonna pay to rebuild my engine IF something goes badly?"

her,,, "NO and NOOOO! its not my bike"

me,,, "exactly so be quiet and respect what i ask you to do regarding my vehicles,,,better yet dont ever ride my bike again."

not the most kind way to go about it, but when it comes to certain things and a woman pushes my buttons on a topic they dont know it sends me into a very strange mental place and i get unkind and fast hahahha

Compare it to buying shoes.

Her feet are made for nice shoes. If you put cheap shoes on her nice feet, her feet will break down.

Solved.
