Economist, have worked in the mining industry since I got out of college many years ago. On the side I am a Land Rover mechanic, just like most of you, but that one doesn't pay.

Until last December I was an accountant for a group of mining companies. After being laid off I decided it was time to find something else since I never really liked it that much anyway. For now odd jobs in landscaping and construction labor. I still keep my wife's books though.

What do I do? Uh, most hated town employee? Yeah that's it.

I'm a former archaeologist (M.A. in Islamic Studies and Arabic Language) who now is a zoning/planning director and historic preservation officer for a small little former mining town that is a National Historic Landmark.

In other words, I get to tell people what they can and can't do with their homes and businesses.

I just signed up for my LSAT on Monday, take it September 26 in Flagstaff. I was told by a big firm attorney that I'm the first zoning person he's ever seen to cite case law in an appeal to Town Council over opening a wine/tasting room on Main St. Whee!
