Default Wheel Spacers...added to a new suspension...

I'm new to your group and would like to know everyone's thoughts regarding Wheel Spacers for a new suspension system?....I'm beginning my research for updating my 2001 Disco II's 58k mile suspension for a trip down to Central & South America then perhaps Africa.

Thank you and might I say what a informative and helpful group you are....All the Best...

I run spacers on my S60R for the look, but would never use spacers for more unsprung weight on the Disco. Just my $.02.

if you are planning such a trip why do you want wheel spacers, stick with as much stock items as possible. If you do have a faliure or a break down then you have more felxibility to fix it for the right parts.

Mid 90's some friends and I went to Tamanrasset in the middle of the Sahrah in a copule of L/R's and due to them being stock we had no problems with fixing them. We came across a German Toyota that was stuck due to having issues with non standard wheels, he had cracked 3 of them fancy non aftermarket wheels. We left some water with his friends and gave a lift to the local town.

I agree.
Who's lift are you going to use?
Make sure to read and do my entire major service post at the top of this section.

You don't need H.D. drive shafts, I would seriously consider setting up the CDL and start working on a list of back up parts to have with you along with tools and a good scanner.
