Default The wheels on the bus go ......

Guys, purchased my Disco some 3 years ago and have ever since spent some $8 Gs on Head gaskets, front gaskets, new radiator, throttle body heater plate gasket etc...

Now I've recently given a little lecture to my now teenage daughter about not having let her friends with older cars park in our pavers driveway cause I had found a wet spot that I thought was oil and blamed it on her friends....

Well, sure enough, I come home today, get in the gym for a workout, come out to go get my younger daughter in school and find that exact same wet spot under the Rover.

Dove under and sure enough, I find drops just hanging there waiting to fall. PINK drops !!!!
So I know that I'm loosing coolant. And it seems to be coming from the starter housing of all places !!%???WTF looked closely above the starter thinking that it must come from higher and make its way down to around the starter, but nothing !!! Impossible but what can I say???? don't tell me to power scrub my engine, its so freakin clean its like showroom clean.

I'm just so freakin pissed off that right after writing this thread, I'm putting the truck up for sale. I've had it !!! there's always something coming upk, always ! Crap, all doors actuators have been changed, I even spent a fortune on the best brakes for this sucker, t-case output shafts seals have been done twice each add all the other little things and you look at it 3 years later and start adding the invoices and $8000.00 + !!!!

Its like I've been around that truck, and now the troubles are strating all over. I remember cause the first thing I had dealth with was coolant loss.

Thanks for letting me vent, I needed it !!!

Man that sucks Steph.
If it's meant to be she will sell quick, if not she will never sell and you will fix her and keep going.

I wont tell you how much I have spent on my truck in 2.5 years then.

Trust me, no it wont.
There are enough people on here who dont like me I dont need to add to that.
I feel Darover's pain, my wife's Volvo is the same way.
I fix one thing and 2 more things go bad.
My Rover, which is supposed to be one of the most unreliable vehicles on the road, is actually the second most reliable vehicle I have ever owned, and the most reliable one ever I bought brand new.

It seems like i recall him posting that he's only spent like $150 on repairs (not including normal maintenance)

what I want to know is how did you spend $8K on $1k worth of parts?? Even the dealership couldn't charge that much in labor.

Actually in the last 3 years, as said above, I had the radiator changed for some $500, intake gasket and valve covers done for about $800,front gasket for approx $600, then last year had a complete head gasket jobs for about $1400. A driveshaft rebuild with greasable u-joints for close to $400.those were done at the dealership except for the custom rad that was done by a friend's rad shop and the driveshaft in a specialised shop too.

Add to this..Crapy plastic idler pulley change with the belt $75. spark plug wires. $125., all 4 new OEM O2 sensors $220 ,All 5 new OEM door lock actuators $500., Changed the SLS for an OME susp cause the compressor crapped on me $800., input and output t-case shaft seals (twice) $60 brand new slotted, cross drilled rotors with ceramic pads, $700. etc...etc...etc... all these done by me.

Well, the dust has somewhat settled and I'll have a serious look at what the heck is wrong this time, hoping to find a simple fix. If I get a decent offer I'll definately sell and my next vehicle would most likely be an Audi Allroad.
