The 180F thermostat we use in V8 D2’s comes from the Diesel D2.

Why would they not use that thermostat on the D2 here right from the beginning? Do diesels like to run cooler

The logic behind the 195 thermostat is that it allows the engine to heat up faster to increase driver comfort in cold climates.

They had to make sure the V8 burned hot to decrease the emissions so it was by design that they made sure the petrol trucks ran as hot as 220.

I love my 2003 and thinking of selling it because of the thought of spending 10 k for a long block one day
I have had 2 offers of 9 k and turned it down
but it does make me nervous and they are becoming extremely rare in good condition like mine is

Spend less than half and do an LS conversion.

Yep new vehicles out there today do it for me besides an 06 RRS Super Charged in Orange with a black interior. Besides that do the LS swap & keep on going in my D2!

Is there an LS conversion kit now? Last I checked a few years ago there wasn't one in the US??
