RE: winch
Two thoughts, Ramsey is not near the winch a Warn is, thus the price difference.
As for mounting it to a hitch, WHY?? Are you thinking about putting a receivor on the front bumper? Iether way they are not safe to use because a receivor was not made for that sort of stress, and they are hugh and just get into the way.
What sort of 4wheeling are you doing and is your truck lifted?
Mike

RE: winch
I don't mean to rain on your parade, it's just I do alot of serious wheeling and have a pretty good idea what a winch can and can't do.
Are you wanting to setr this up for the front or rear of the truck?
It will take a little exxtra bracing in order to not damage your truck on a hard pull.

Listen to Mike. The issue is lateral stress not head on. How many times do you pull a trailer at 70 degrees, well you use a winch like that all the time to pull back on-trail or control a slide. You CAN make an appropriate mount, if you get a local welder to do something for you, but you'll need two tubes at least mounted to the rear frame. I know people sell front winch frames, I am not sure about rear. I'm sure you could do something removable easily enough but remember you're not winching head on, you're going to be at an angle, every time... until you pull the truck into line. You really don't want to break a winch when you're alone and stuck.

RE: winch
Hey Guys,
Don't mean to get in the middle of the discussion here because (a) I've never owned a winch and (b) I've never actually even been around when 1 was used so sorry I can't be more help about what should be done with it. Anyway with that being said I do seem to remember seeing a Warn winch in one of the catalogs that came in the mail that could actually be used in front or in back of the vehicle, you just had to buy & install a rear mounting plate or something like that which was an accessory for the winch. I remember thinking that would be a really neat idea but after reading what Mike's said I'm not sure how useable that would be. Anyway I'll see if I can find the catalog (I don't usually throw too many things away) and report back.
Good luck!
Walter
