Default Wiper arm do not turn

Hello everyone,

Today I installed a new lower windshield cowl. After putting everything back together, I noticed that the windshield wipers stopped working. When I take the assembly off and turn on the wipers, I see that both motors are moving. When I put the wipers on and lightly tighten the nut, I see motors/nuts moving too but the wiper arms are stationary. When I tighten the nut all the way, neither neither arms no the motors are moving. I see that there is an engagement, but there is no movement. What gives?

I have a D1 wiper conversion by the way. Thank you!

There's a happy medium of tightness. I've encountered arms not moving when limp wristing. Over torquing can the cause your latter observation.

Doing a quick search I didn't find windscreen arm torque, rear window arm spec should be the same and below.
5. Tighten wiper arm nut to 20 Nm (15 lbf.ft) and
fit nut cover.

You need to use the flanged nut too, not a regular nut. A regular nut does not disperse the torque wide enough to hold.

I think I found the problem: The teeth inside the wiper arms were completely shaven off. I have no idea when the PO installed the arms, so I'll just get new ones along with the nuts from BA's D1 conversion kit. Everything worth doing is worth doing right. Landy's getting lots of new parts ;-)
