I'm very happy whit this write up too. Mine started not to work yesterday, and it took only an hour to repair it (after I read the instructions and photos). And I did it on the other side too with the headlight arm/lever, for prevention. It was the same method.

Thanks a lot

Thanks for the post, worked for me as well. I think this would be a good addition to the write up's sticky?

Agreed!

Nice work. This is why I love Land Rover owners. With my volvo it's like I'm the only DIYer out there.

Default Wiper switch alternate.....

Tried the fix, I was unable to get the switch out of housing after removing screws. Was afraid to break something with flat screwdriver as was putting on much pressure. Was able to get contact cleaner with straw attachment all around where stalk goes into switch. Move stalk around while spraying with straw. I pressed in on stalk hard and moved in all directions as to make better contact with contacts and clean them better. Not as good as proper fix but im not waiting around for new switch to come in mail...... 3 phillips screws on bottom of coloum plastic housing. Drop fuse panel door to get at third screw. Then the lower housing has 4 plastic tabs that click into upper housing,so push in on the upper casing at parting line to unlatch plastic tabs and seperate coloum plastic......hope this helps if unable to release switch...

Randy..
It does require a pretty firm pull on the wiper switch... Was a little scary the first time I yanked on it!!! Swore a screw was holding it that I could not see.
I did my light switch column too, it released from its bracket much easier than the wiper.
You probably loosen up some of the old grease and are getting good enough contact now. If it gums up again, you know how get at it.

Default Another one fixed

Thanks CANAM, another successful repair to report. So easy, wish I had done it sooner. The caked grease was even worse than your pictures.
