Default Would like some advice for my roof rack

Hi guys. This project is kind of the least of my concerns at the moment however I would like to make additional changes to my roof rack. My lights used to be chrome and painted them black a few months ago. I would like to get a lower profile look for these lights. It's a surco roof rack and the lights are the ones you would find at autozone I believe(im not the original owner). I want to get some brackets that would attach to the bottom bar and just mount the lights in front for the lower profile.

Surco makes these brackets. But they are $48 for only a pair of brackets. Not very affordable for 8 lights. Does anyone have experience with this kind of stuff, and doing it in a way that was affordable? Can shop fabricate these? Thanks

Here's a pic

What brand and how many watts are those lights? That's a small roof rack for the large rover roof but you could weld light tabs lower on the rack for lower mounting point and jumbo jets are going to land on you when driving down the interstate. I hope you sanded off the chrome and used some self etching primer and high heat paint otherwise when those get hot the black paint will slide right off the chrome.

Way too many lights, that has to cost you nearly 2 MPG with all the wind resistance.
How about beefing up your head lights and thinning out all that wasted light power from your roof?
Just a thought.

He has to get it running before he can figure out how much the lights are going to destroy the mileage, Right now its a yard ornament.

Well it's all good. I got the roof rack with the lights, previous owner installed them. I've considered removing a few of them. But this is all still preliminary, but I do want to figure out how to get a lower profile with these lights. Your suggestion sounds like a good one lr2001silver.

Well if you want an honest answer....

Get 6 pieces of flat metal that are around 4 inches long, by 2" wide. Drill two holes, kind of like this without the middle one.

Then mount all the lights upside down on those brackets.
