Question Would you buy this 2000 Discovery?

I'm new here, hello.

I've been looking for a LR for a while, and I came across this 2000 Discovery online. Haven't gone to see it in person yet because I'm over an hour away. What's your gut feeling about this one?

I know there isn't much information, but I'd also like to know what questions you'd have about it if you were in a position to buy. Should I go have a look?

Thanks for any input!

Very nice, OK price, the only thing that would concern me is - transferable warranty? - how long left on same?

When/if you drive it, let it warm up good, sit & idle - A/C on, do electric fans work ok?

You may P.M. discoMike, to see what to look for. (front driveshaft, etc.)

luck,greg

There is a thread that lists everything you should look for when buying one, just do a search. If everything checks out then I think its a good deal esp since prices are higher out where you are.

Lot of miles, but that's nice that the head gaskets were done for you! I'd ask to see the receipt for that, to see if the work was done at a reputable shop. IMO you could get him down based on the miles, but I'd say worth the drive to look at it and if it's in good shape, go for it.

Thanks all! I've been giving that "what to look for" list a thorough look-over... glad to have that. And thanks for the other input, all duly noted.

One thing I've had trouble tracking down is the intervals for changing the timing belt... my gut says it should have been changed twice by 134k, is that accurate?

I think this is always a good reference, too, but you are already past the miles...

As far as the serp belt is concerned, I think they rec @ 45k and 105k

There is no timing belt, they use a chain which, in most cases, will last over 200K miles.

Well that explains why I was having trouble tracking that down.

Thanks!

My first and most major concern would be that front driveshaft. Crawl under and take a good hard look at it and around it. Make sure they haven't done any half-assed attempts at fixing anything that was broken.

The rear wiper is broken.
Drivers side fog light is broken.
The tires match, thats good.
If they come down on the price and it checks out ok then go for it.
