2017 Discovery Sport Luxury HSE
Hi,
Just bought my first Land Rover, a used 2017 Discovery Sport Luxury HSE. Had it inspected and had a cracked belt and oil leaks around valve cover gaskets and cam timing solenoid gaskets. Those repairs have been made. Having some other electrical type issues.
1) The fuel gauge only shows the car to be 1/2 full. Even after topping it off at a gas station. I've read there are related recalls on other year models, but not the 2017. Has something to do with a software update. This vehicle is not able to connect remotely to download any updates.
2) The windshield wipers work, when it's dry outside. During a rainstorm, they do not function whatsoever. My only guess is it could be related to the rain sensor, but to be clear the wipers don't work on any setting during a rain event.
3) I get a low battery warning after the car has been sitting for a week or so. A local autoparts store says the battery and charging system appear to be fine. I put an overnight charge on the battery, and the problem went away. The car was in the shop for 10 days or so to repair the oil leaks, and it's back to a low battery status. Is this normal? Should I just replace the battery?
If anyone has had luck dealing with the above issues - I'd appreciate the input. Again, I'm brand new to Land Rovers and haven't learned their quirks yet. LOL!

1. It sounds like a bad fuel level sensor in the tank,, very expensive to fix For all cars. The software update was to have the fuel level go lower before giving a warning. Land Rover had programmed a large amount for the reserve and it was updated. I think my light came on at 50 litres and now at 60 litre, with a 70 litre tank.
2. Have never encountered on any forums with wiper problems.
Bring the car back to the dealer as both items are safety items.
3. The Disco loves to show it's warning about the battery if not driven or driven on short trips. Almost everyone buys a CTEK charger and charges at least once a month. CTEK is the same charger that Land Rover uses but branded with the Land Rover tag. Also with a low battery the car will do lots of strange things and give lots of headaches to owners. But the battery could be getting near it's life.
