Default Here We Go Again, My LSX Swap Thread

Picked up an all aluminum 2004 GM LM4 5.3 liter V-8 with 4x4 4L60E transmission and Transfer case. As many of you know, the problems will be numerous and difficult. I'll list a few to get started.

1. Truck oil pan will not work, it hits the front diff. Will need to swap to an F-Body or after market pan.
2. Do not know yet if the Land Rover Transmission will mate to the LM4, and if it will, can the LR trans. and Transfer case be controlled?
3. If I go with the complete GM trans. and transfer case, it will have to be converted to passenger side (right) orientation. I also do not have the electronic control unit for the GM transfer case.
4. The LM4 power steering reservoir hits the Rover Steering gear, it can be moved, but the pump may also hit.
5. It's way to early to tell, but the intake manifold may also be too tall.

Here are a few pics. Suggestions and comments are welcome.

You can get a compu-shift from Ashcroft to control the shifting. Have you found an adapter plate yet?

Good luck!

No, but the LS engine is one that we've looked into. I will talk to some people and see if I can find you something. Personally I'd prefer the tranmission that comes mated to an LS over the ZF, but it'd be easier to use a ZF for the LT230 adaptation.

I agree, the total GM drivetrain swap WILL be better and probably easier, but I am still on the fence right now... could go either way.
I look forward to hearing from you about the adapter, thanks!
I need to get the oil pan swapped before I can proceed with motor mounts and then accessory mounting and hook ups.

There is an adapter for the 4l80e, not sure what the difference is between it and the 4l60e is.

Land Rover - Transfer Case Adaptors

There is also a bell housing adapater:
Land Rover V8 Engine Conversion Kits using the LS Series V8 Engine

There are also engine mounts, etc. All the stuff is crazy expensive pre-made. I'd almost think you could have stuff made for you cheaper.

Probably easier to put a D1 or RRC auto in it instead, but they never made any for the 4.6, so it might burn up pretty fast.

Yeah, I've looked at those, 4L60E is a little different, and the LS Series Conversion kit is for MANUAL transmission. Controlling these electronic transmissions and transfer cases seems to be the kicker.... causes most people to give up or never start it. A LSX and manual transmission in a DI would be a lot more doable.
