Default Not Starting

Hi, I have a 2003 land rover freelander and when I go to start my car it takes about 20-30 mins to get the car started. I put the key in the ignition and when I turn to start it, it will not catch, the lights, radio and heat turn on but it doesn't start, so after 10-30 minutes of turning the key it will finnaly start, does anyone know what the problem could be?

they occasionally have problems with the immobization system, two parts of it. both the inductor ring that reads the id of the key, and also the immobilization ecu itself, it needs to be checked out by someone that has a testbook computer so they can see the inputs... or it could be something as easy as the starter relay.

Hey Roverguy7, the rover just starts after awhile no hesitation just starts after awhile, Since my post I thought it was the starter,I brought a new one and come to find out my old starter tested good, so it was not the starter, now I don't have the slightest idea as to what it could be?

Hey thanks everyone, the problem was the ignition switch, I brought a new one and installed it, and no more problems with starting my rover!

Hi Rayyag, I also have an 03 Freelander with a seemingly similar problem.... it will crank over.... but not fire..... only happens every now and then (usually when my wife is shopping).... I had LR dealership look over it but car was starting fine on the day so they left it.... of course that evening it wouldn't start.... i normally leave it for half an hour... come back and it starts fine...... can i ask how you found that was ignition switch...??
