Default 2007 New RR - Are They Really That Bad?

It is coming time to make a new car decision and I am considering the 2007 Range Rover HSE. Every time I turn around I hear people telling me I am crazy because of their reliability issues but my response is if the car is new, they should all be fixed (is this right?). Also, are the problems the type that will leave you stranded on the side of the road or just annoyances? Finally, what should I expect off of MSRP. Is $5,000 possible? More?

mostly the little things, land rovers arnt exactly known for their reliability but over the years its been improving, the most common problem you'll find will probably be the air suspension but you will probably not have any trouble with it. id say go for it

That is what I thought. I am used to problems to a certain extent, my Mercedes and BMW have hadquite afew so I really don't mind them once in a while as long as they don't leave me stranded on the side of the road. Along these lines by the way, Lexus really does a nice job here, I have hadno problems on either of my Lexus(RX330 and LS460). It is kind of strange because I have just become accustomed to it...

Thanks for the input!

I was a prior Lexus Owner and I agree ('05 GX470). As far as flawless reliability and resale value, Lexus simply can't be beat. So why then am I riding in a new Rover? Once you own one you get it . You will never regret owning anew RR HSE.

That is my thought exactly. I have considered the LX570 that is coming out but the Rover just looks better and I love the off road capability. Also, in my mind (and in the minds of many) the Range Rover is the best SUV on the road without exception. I have been readingA LOT about it and the more I read, the more respect I have for it. I can't wait!

What's your thought on the discount question???

I am going through the exact same thing. Love the vehicle but am afraid of the reliability thing. Trying to get 5M off the sticker. Have you had any luck with your negotiations??

My porsche lease isn't up yet so I haven't started (I am still in the research mode). I fully expect that you will be able to get $5,000 off the sticker but it may require somehaggling. I believe this because this car has been on the market for a LONG time and it is not a high volume car.

This weekend I went to the dealership after hours and looked at them very closely. I opened one up on the lot that was unlocked and really went through it. It really looked and felt right and it was the turning point in this decision. I am buying new so even if I do have issues at least they should be fixed at no charge. The problem that you and I have Jim is that there really is no close substitute. In the large sedan category there is LS, 7, A8 and Sbut there is really nothing comparable to this. The closest competitors are Escalade which is a little too "Street" for me and LX570 which has strange looking taillights (and these are not exactly comporable either especially given off road performance).

Anyway, keep me apprised of your situation as I am curious!

Hi Eric,

I am in Pittsburgh. My email address is dan1email@yahoo.com. Like I said, I am still a little ways off but I would definitely consider talking with you as the deal is paramount (Example: I bought my Porsche from accross the state for the same reason...).

Hi Eric and Luxury

I will give you a call in the morning. PST I am in San Diego. Luxury, I have done all the similar research and thought maybe about the new LX 570 when it comes out but I do not like the way the thing looks! I pretty much have come to the same decision as you! Will keep you updated as I get closer to a purchase.
