Default 95 RR Classic cutting out

Please Help

My RR is starting to cut out. Most of the time theengine idles fine and runs normal and seems to only happen under load and when the engine isfully warmed up. It is definitely more noticeable on the freeway. When driving it feels jerky and I can see the tac drop 100 or so RPMs.

Also, I only noticed this problem after I changed thespark plugs...when I pulled the plugs they were really clean... no black carbon at all (just gray and worn)...maybe it is running too lean? I think my next step will be to replace the plug wires, rotor, and distributor.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

How many miles on your truck, what plugs did you install and what gap on the plugs?

I put in NGKs and I didn't gap them... I thought they come pre-gapped? What should they be gapped at?

128k on the truck

Thanks

With that mileage, I would suggest it may be time for a set of Magnacor 8mm wires also. As for the gap, I don't know what yours should be gapped at, do you still have youe sticker under the hood, it should show what gap to use.

this weekend I was stilltrying to fix my cutting out problem and found thefault codedisplay showing "12" (airflowmeter problem). So I am going tocheck that out know.

On to my question:When I was digging around the nest of wires under the front passenger seat I found a little black switch, mounted vertically toward the back right of the compartment. Flipping the switch with the engine running didn't seem to do anything. Does anyone know what that switch does???

Also, I think my CATs are shot. One of them sounds like it is rattlling around in there. The exhaust smells likecars that drive around in Mexico. I know its not running rich though (plugs are clean). Would bad CATs make my engine cut out when it is hot outside?

Replaced all of the abouve mentioned items... same problem. I took it to the local dealer here in nor cal, and they can't even determine the problem.Today the master tech took the truck home to geta better feel for what is going on.... will see.

Does any know a good rover mechanic in the nor cal bay area?

Have you replace the rotor arm and distributor cap with GENUINE items. The Rover V8 is notorious for not liking pattern parts. I went down the cheaper route and they lasted a week before giving problems. Replaced with genuine parts adn have had several years with no problems

The rover dealer found the problem. It was some kind of tunerdiode that feeds power into the ignition coil. I would have never figured that out.
