Default Buying a 1990 RR

What do you guys think?

https://ventura.craigslist.org/cto/5478435883.html

I'm e-mailing to ask about the rust and look into maybe some more info about the salvage title and sensors, but it is a low price. I'm looking for a daily driver.

I'm aware that RRCs are pretty reliable. 166k is a lot, but it doesn't seem like a crazy amount compared to what some of them I've seen have on them.

check inside the rear doors and inside the rear wheel wheels for rust,
number one place for rust.

I have found that people tend to shot picture right around that area,
similar to the picture that was taken of the rear seat. but does not show the jamb.

Low price? I guess they have a lot higher resale value than Discoveries. I see some nice ones in the west, but the prices seem to range from $4K to $8K. They may be reliable, but considering how much they share with my Disco 1, and how old they are, I'm convinced it would be another $10K+ project. If I was buying a 1990 on a salvage title, I'd be nervous about the price. But I'm the guy who always seems to end up paying a lot more than others.

If it is a California car since new, it likely doesn't have significant rust. But it's worth checking because it could have migrated from a rust area. I'd pull the carpet away from the rear wheel arch next to the rear seat, and by the front door sills and look under the carpet at the base of the front wheel arches. Also check the frame and undercarriage.

Definitely check the known rust areas mentioned above. I'd also check the rear crossmember, under the lift-gate. These tend to rot from the inside out. It may appear solid, but touch it with your finger and press inward. If it's mushy, you're looking at a replacement soon. Also look under the carpet in the loadspace. If the strip attaching the liftgate carpet to the loadspace carpet is intact, it may be trickier to inspect. In this case, crawl underneath and inspect the seams on both sides. Any bulging is an indicator of rust. However, most of the time, the carpet seem is ripped, so you can easily lift the loadspace carpet.
