RE: Coupon for a Range Rover - $2,000
This is very true, if you own a Rover then your car is worth a lot less than it should be.
I am so tempted to trade mine in just to get that new car smell again but it only has 18,000 miles on it and there is no notabledifference between the '07's and '08's.
Do you think that they really can go that low on a new Rover though even if they havea lot of2008's? Don't you think that there is a line and they say that there is just no way we can sell it below XX dollars?

They do have a line, but that line changes every month when the manufacturer provides new incentives. Manufacturer's want all their 2008's sold by the end of the year, and when they are not, they get a little nervous and start throwing bigger money to get rid of them. This could be factory to dealer or factory to customer incentives. Sometimes these dealers will not tell you about all the incentives they have..especially the factory to dealer ones. They also don't like to give up the holdback money, but I am now seeing dealer even giving that up to get rid of these cars/vehicles.
If RR dealers are selling new 2008's at $56,999 now, wait until after the first of the year. RR will probably throw another $1-2000k more in incentives to get rid of these trucks. These trucks plummet in value the first couple of years and Land Rover knows it, and that is why they have to throw big money on them to get rid of them.
I spoke with a banker friend of mine, and he said that his bank won't even loan the full MSRP on Rovers anymore because they lose too much value. Interesting....
