Default cruise control

hello guys , i have a 1996 range rover p38 my cruise control doesnt work , well the switch on the dash will turn onn but when i set it on the steering wheels no response...........i check all the vaccum lines looks good and the diapram hold vaccum , please tell me what i should look for next and how to fix it thanks hani , plus i have one more problem..... when i drive the rover drives good and shift fine , but there is a wineing noise coming from the tranny i think ............and then it will go away when i hit 60 and over can u tell me what it is thanks for your time

Regarding your cruise, I'd recheck all vacuumhoses, tees & connections including to brake pedal (pain in butt)

Regarding trans whine, could be literally dozens of causes coming from dozens of moving parts.
dirty filter restricting oil flow, bearings going, oil level low, maybe nobody ever serviced it.
these things will take a beating, but at some point you must apologize & take them to dinner.
Check the easy stuff first and/or take it to a good shop, if your not happy with the diagnosis,
gather as much info as you can & post it. Someone will be happy to offer suggestions.
