Your RR will shift when ever it feels like it lol. When its cold out mine wants to shift at 3k rpms until the transmission warms up. Then it consistently shifts at 2200. Most vehicles (and I'm sure later P38s) have adaptive transmission ECUs that learn the driver's behavior and adjusts shifting patterns and performance. Thus shifting patterns will vary from one user to the other. Some of our vehicles you can actually "train" by consistently shifting at specific rpms in manual mode. Putting your RR in sport mode will also adjust shifting patterns and cause the vehicle to shift at higher RPMs.
LRScott is probably right, I notice it more when I just start out in the morning rather then when I am driving normal. I find that sometimes it will hang out in 2nd gear whille I get up to speed.
